EMPower WNY is an emergency response program serving and assisting the citizens of Western New York.

This program was formed to educate and promote effective preparedness and emergency response at all levels.

EMPower WNY’s mission is to help local communities meet the challenge of limited emergency response resources.

What will EMPower WNY do?

 
• Partner with local municipalities and support emergency management departments
• Involve local businesses to invest in your town’s emergency management/CERT
• Facilitate coordination between the public and private sector to improve emergency response
• Engage residents in emergency preparedness
• Empower all citizens in our local communities

If your town does not currently have a CERT team, we can help you start one by providing guidance and assisting you with:

• Identifying and providing you with necessary resources
• Tailoring training to your needs
• Providing initial training and materials
• Establishing a training cadre
• Recruiting membership
• Building and maintaining local partnerships
• Coordinate and facilitate a "train the trainer” program
• Provide a trainer to teach an initial CERT class
• Promote participation in your town’s CERT program
• Build a committed and capable volunteer base to support existing local emergency management

In addition, your CERT group can have a home on PrepareHub.org that includes simple-to-use web-based tools that help you:

• Communicate with members
• Create a calendar to promote events
• Create a blog to educate and inform members
• Have all your CERT group’s information in one place
